Argyll & Bute Council support community forest initiative
- The community recently received confirmation that Argyll & Bute Council will grant unlimited access rights from the A8003 into the forest for the community. Planning, Planning Policy, Roads and Estates departments have formally confirmed that they are wholly supportive of the aims of the project.
Minister for the Environment, Roseanna Cunningham
- Our local Environment Minister, Roseanna Cunningham, in Colintraive is taking a keen interest in the project and the Forestry Commission have now commissioned a survey of a link road in the North to enable extraction of timber to market for the community and is actively involved in forward discussions.
Funding & Development Support
- £23,000 has been secured from Leader+ Argyll & Islands for the first 2 years development of the forest. Although the funding bid to BLF was unsuccessful other funding sources are being explored.
- Work on the Kilfinan Path has already started with bracken, gorse and rhodie being cleared. Access is now clear from Middle Innins. The path is still very wet and further culverting and drainage work will be ongoing. So take your wellies and explore the Kilfinan Path. If you’d like to arrange a guided visit to the Path please contact Michaela on 811809.
- With over 153 members now, and the support of the community YOU have currently pledged £2,040, raised £519.00 at the Soup & Puddings event and donated over £365 in cash and tree plantings and given lots of prizes. Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
